Type Locality and Naming
BASINAL: The type section is located at exploratory well Mantripalem-A (depth interval: 2715-2040 m), in the Pennar subbasin. The hypostratotype is in the well KS-C-A (depth interval: 1590-2295 m). It was named after the river Krishna by ONGC team steered by Venkatarengan et al. (1993) and issued as Document-VII by KDMIPE, ONGC, Dehradun (1993). Lithology and Thickness
Sandstone. This unit is dominantly arenaceous with intermittent shale beds. Its thickness varies from 300-705 m.

Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unconformable with basement / or on Pennar Fm (maybe conformable)
Upper contact
Conformable with the Raghavapuram Fm.
Regional extent
Extended in Pennar and Nizampatnam grabens.
